It’s all change in the New Year for Gower Vets!
From the first week of February the surgery will be undergoing some major alterations and extension to the premises. This will allow us, in due course, to build on our usual high standard of service and develop that even further.
We anticipate that the building work will be completed within a ten week period. There will be some disruption during this time, for which we apologise in advance, but you can rest assured that we will do our utmost to accommodate everyone’s needs and we are confident that the outcome of the upheaval will reap greater benefits for both the staff and clients in the future.
The building is going to be extended out on three sides which will provide us all with more space.
From the clients’ perspective, the surgery will benefit from a larger waiting area (with separate cat and dog areas to relieve stress). A third consulting room will facilitate shorter waiting times, particularly during evening surgeries on Mondays and Fridays. The extra consulting room will also allow nurses to take a more active role with weight clinics etc. Similarly, discharge appointments with the nurses will be able to be held privately, rather than carried out in reception.
The car park will be resurfaced with tarmac which should make for easier access into the building for anyone with a pram or with limited mobility. Whilst it will remain the same size, it will be at least partly taken up with building supplies during the works. Staff cars will be parked away from the surgery at this time to allow more convenient access for clients when this occurs.
From the staff’s point of view, once the work is complete, we will have gained a diagnostics suite with NEW digital radiographic equipment (x ray), ultrasound, ECG, endoscopy, bronchoscopy and full ophthalmic examination equipment all to hand.
A full laboratory has recently been installed in the practice with haematology, biochemistry, clotting tests, electrolyte and so on. This has enabled us to carry out a comprehensive range of in house tests at an even higher standard than before, receiving the results of the tests the same day.
The provision of two new, sterile, highly equipped surgical theatres will enable us to operate at the same time and take our already high standard of surgery and interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery even further.
The surgery will also benefit from improved bio security for our isolation area; thus further reducing the risk of the spread of disease.
We hope that our clients will understand the necessity of these works as we continue to strive for the best that we can achieve for both pet and client.
