Meet the team

Richard Beynon

Richard Beynon BVSc Cert VA MRCVS

I qualified in June 1999 from the University of Liverpool.  Following this I worked for the RSPCA in Manchester for five years before returning to Liverpool where I completed a certificate in small animal anaesthesia.  I then spent a further period of time with the RSPCA before setting up this small animal practice in 2004.  My interests include surgery, critical care and ophthalmology.

William Franklin

William Franklin BVMS MRCVS

Will graduated from Glasgow University in 2004 and started work in a mixed practice in Hereford.  He moved to Swansea in November 2007 to enable him to concentrate on his main area of interest in small animal veterinary work.
Will enjoys life in Swansea and Gower, kitesurfing on the many beaches, eating the local seafood and walking his three very spoilt dogs.

Sophie Ingold

Sophie Ingold BVSc MRCVS

Sophie graduated from Bristol in 2007 and joined Gower Vets in 2009. After a small animal and equine internship, Sophie gained experience in locum work all over the country. In 2008 she spent 6 months volunteering in India, focussing on a campaign to neuter dogs and vaccinate them against Rabies. Sophie enjoys soft tissue surgery and in her spare time likes mountaineering, outdoor cooking and travelling in developing countries. She has two Springer Spaniels "Poppy" and "Inky".

Joanne Humphreys

Joanne Humphreys, Practice Manager

Joanne has been with Gower Vets since April 2005. In 2006 she became the Practice Manager and is now responsible for running the veterinary surgery and has an advanced HND in animal science. Joanne regularly enjoys taking her parents dogs for long walks and maintaining her love for horses, riding whenever possible.
She has two cats "Sminty" and "Whizz-whizz" and a guinea pig she rescued from the practice named "Splat".

Rachel Taylor

Rachel Taylor

I trained in Llandudno as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant and joined this practice in 2006.  My interests include surgical nursing, anaesthesia and theatre practice.  In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and I play rugby for the Cardiff Quins and for Wales.

Sarah Casey

Sarah Casey

Sarah has been with the practice since October 2005 and has an active part in most events within the practice. She enjoys organising events, keyhole surgery and behaviour. She has also attended a "nursing matters" course which has helped advance her visual approach to the information boards and the development of the practice. She has a German Shepherd called "Tegan" and a Hamster called "Eduardo".

Gemma McLoughlin

Gemma McLoughlin

Gemma joined the practice in October 2007 after studying for a BSc in Zoology at Sheffield University.  She is especially interested in animal behaviour and surgical nursing.  She is currently running the “Puppy Parties” at the surgery, as well as studying for an advanced diploma in canine behaviour management.
She has a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a tortoise.  In her spare time, she likes to go to the cinema, to socialise with friends and playing sports.

Lauren Williams

Lauren Williams

Lauren has worked here on a part time basis since the practice opened in 2004.  She has enjoyed being part of the team and watching the practice grow.

She is currently studying at UWIC but comes back at every available opportunity!

Ceri Simpson

Ceri Simpson

Ceri joined GVS in October 2004 and worked part time whilst she was studying for an Equine Science degree at Aberystwyth University.

She has six dogs, a cat, two goats, a leopard gecko and nine horses.  She is a compere in show jumping and dressage and runs a riding school.

Laura Thomas

Laura is the newest member to the Gower Veterinary Surgery; joining us in September 2009. After gaining beauty qualifications in NVQ 2 and 3 and caring for a short while, she decided to focus on her love for animals. Her interests are based in orthopaedic surgery and she fully enjoys being a part of all aspects of the practice. In her spare time she enjoys walking her two Rottweilers "Kelly" and "Tito" and her miniature dachshund "Milo".
