Our busy Swansea vet practice is proving a popular place to work, with six staff members marking long service milestones.
All six team members have worked at Gower Veterinary Surgery in Swansea for at least 10 years, but most of them have worked for much longer, even up to 20 years, as long as our practice has been open.
In total, they have an incredible combined service record of 93 years at Gower Vets, which looks set to rise even further as team members continue their successful careers at the veterinary practice, which itself celebrates its 20th anniversary year in 2024.
Those celebrating long service awards are lead veterinary nurse Lauren Rogers (20 years), practice manager Joanne Humphreys (19 years), clinical director Heather Davies (18 years), lead veterinary surgeon Chloe Frew (16 years), office manager Heidi Scott-Thompson (10 years) and lead nurse Molly Brannigan (10 years).
Lauren, who was just 14 when she started as a Saturday job, said: “I have amazing memories from the staff, some of whom will be life-long friends, and also the incredible vets who I have been able to work with.”
Joanne, who started at Gower Vets as a receptionist and patient care assistant, said: “Gower is a wonderful practice and a really lovely team. I feel privileged to have watched the practice grow from just one vet to the fantastic team we are today.”
Heather, who initially spent time at Gower during the year it opened as a student carrying out work experience, added: “The team at Gower is amazing. I have made friends for life and have many fond memories of working with each person every day.
“Above all, the team is passionate about providing quality patient care for pets and clients and goes above and beyond to achieve this.”
Chloe, who first started at Gower Vets by volunteering and has worked her way up from part-time holiday work to the exciting new role of clinical director, said: “I have always felt incredibly supported by the wonderful team at Gower Vets, and it has been an honour to be part of such a caring team who are so invested in patient well-being.
“I have many great memories and plan to stay and make many more.”
Heidi, who was previously a phlebotomist before working at Gower Vets, added: “There’s a great bond within the team. We’re like one big happy family.”
Molly, who started as a receptionist and patient care assistant, said: “I have been fortunate to see Gower evolve over the past 10 years, and so much has changed within the practice and team. I am excited to see what the future holds for my nursing career at Gower vets.”
